How it connects

eBay connects through Shopify.

Shopify's Marketplace Connect app publishes your Shopify products on eBay and brings eBay orders back into Shopify. Our Shopify app takes them from there.

  1. Install NinjaBuy on Shopify

    Our app adds NinjaBuy as a fulfillment location, so Shopify sends us the orders for products we ship.

  2. Link eBay with Marketplace Connect

    Shopify's own app. It lists your products on eBay and keeps stock, prices, orders and tracking in step.

  3. Pick a source eBay allows

    1688 wholesale listings, or stock you bought ahead into our warehouse. The importer shows which a link is.

  4. Orders come to us by themselves

    eBay → Shopify → NinjaBuy. We mark the Shopify order shipped with its tracking number.

We don't connect to eBay directly: eBay orders reach us only through a Shopify store.

Rules to know

eBay's dropshipping rule decides your source.

Read eBay's own policy before you list. Here is how it meets what we do.

  • Wholesale, not retail

    eBay doesn't allow buying an item from another retailer or marketplace and having it shipped straight to your buyer. Taobao and Weidian are retail marketplaces; 1688 is wholesale.

  • Or sell stock you own

    Buy units ahead and keep them in our warehouse. Each eBay order then ships from stock that is already yours.

  • The delivery time is your promise

    eBay holds you to delivery within the time your listing states. Set a handling time that covers buying, checking and the trip from China.

  • Rights owners report copies

    Through eBay's VeRO program, a brand can report a listing that infringes it, and eBay may remove it. Our importer warns you when a listing looks branded.

What one order costs

An example: the product, its price and its weight are made up. The fees, the tax and the shipping rate are the ones we charge today. Shipping is priced on the weight we measure in our warehouse. Your channel's own fees and your selling price aren't in it.

Questions sellers ask

Can I list Taobao products on eBay?
Not as one-order-at-a-time dropshipping: eBay doesn't allow buying from a retailer or marketplace and shipping straight to your buyer, and Taobao and Weidian are retail. List 1688 wholesale items, or buy Taobao stock ahead into our warehouse and sell it from there.
Do I need a Shopify store?
Yes. eBay orders reach us through Shopify's Marketplace Connect and our Shopify app.
How does tracking get to eBay?
We add it to the Shopify order, and Marketplace Connect passes it on to eBay.
What handling time should I set?
Enough to buy and check the item. Buying after each sale needs more days than shipping from your shelf; we'll suggest a figure for your products when we set you up.
Can I use the photos from the 1688 listing?
They belong to the seller who took them. Our QC photos of the item in hand are ours to share with you, which makes them a safer start.
Does the margin include eBay's fees?
It takes an estimate of them off. eBay's fees vary by category and store, so check its fee page for yours.
Does stock sync reach eBay?
Yes, through Shopify. We set the Shopify stock, and Marketplace Connect updates the eBay listing.
What does NinjaBuy cost?
The importer, the sync and the apps are free. On each order you pay for the goods, a CN¥12.00 intake fee per item group, shipping and a handling fee per parcel, with a 14% flat tax on those lines.
